Black Friday is a big event, but it’s increasingly looking like one product, the true-wireless headphones from Apple, could be one of the show-stopping biggest sellers. Here, I’ve taken a look at Apple’s in-ear headphones, that is, AirPods, AirPods Pro and sibling brand from Beats: Powerbeats Pro.
Apple’s AirPods changed everything when they first went on sale in 2016: the tiny true-wireless headphones have been super-successful since day one, and led to an update with a wireless charging case and then AirPods Pro last year. Prices for AirPods and AirPods Pro haven’t changed, but it’s possible to get decent deals, especially at this time of year.
I’ll be updating this post as new deals appear or sell out, so please check back.
The first question you need to ask is, which AirPods do you want? The entry-level model is called AirPods with Charging Case, normally $159 from Apple. Then there’s the next step up, AirPods with Wireless Charging Case, which means instead of plugging the case into a Lightning cable to charge it, you can just plonk it on a wireless charging pad as well. Obviously, these AirPods also charge via cable. The regular price for this version is $199.
And then there’s the premium version, the AirPods Pro, which have a different design, sensational noise-canceling and three sizes of silicone ear tips for a snug, noise-isolating fit. AirPods Pro usually cost $249.
Here are the latest and best deals.
Apple AirPods Pro Deals
The best deals right now see a very big discount, $50, off the regular $249 price. This is a great price for these excellent headphones. You’ll find this price at Amazon, Walmart, Target, B&H PhotoVideo and Best Buy.
$199.99 from B&H, a $50 saving (normally $249.99)
$199.99 from Target, a $50 saving (normally $249.99)
$199 from Walmart, a $50 saving (normally $249)
$199.99 from Best Buy, a $50 saving (normally $249.99)
AirPods with Wireless Charging Case Deals
AirPods are cheaper than AirPods Pro, so it may be a surprise that some places are offering a steeper discount in percentage terms than on the Pro models: a $50 discount is to be found at Best Buy, Walmart and Amazon with smaller discounts elsewhere.
$149.99 from Walmart, a $50 saving (normally $199.99)
$154.99 from B&H, a $45 saving (normally $199.99)
$159.99 from Target, a $40 saving (normally $199.99)
$149.99 from Amazon, a $49.01 saving (normally $199)
Apple AirPods with Charging Case
The entry-level AirPods are identical to the version with wireless charging case, apart from the case, of course. Normally, you’d pay $159 for this model. Right now, there are discounts of $30 to $40, taking it down to around $119, according to retailer. This brings the AirPods into a much more affordable category and is very welcome.
$129.99 from Target, a $40 saving (normally $159.99)
$129.99 from Best Buy, a $30 saving (normally $159.99)
$129.99 from B&H, a $30 saving (normally $159.99)
$119 from Walmart, a $40 saving (normally $159)
Beats by Dre Beats Powerbeats Pro Deals
Sporty users love the Powerbeats Pro, not least because of the neat ear hook which ensures no matter how fast you run, they should stay in place. The regular price for Powerbeats Pro, which come in a variety of cool colors, is $249, but you can find that discounted by up to $90. Note that it very much depends on the color: choose Navy or Black and you’ll pay full price, but if you like the Spring Yellow Powerbeats Pro (for what it’s worth, this feisty lemon shade is easily the best, I’d say), or the subtle Moss color, then savings are to be had. By the way, if the bright Lava Red option is your choice, there’s often a $50 price saving at the below retailers.
From $159.99 from Target, a saving of $90 (normally $249.99)
From $159.99 from Amazon, a saving of $90.04 (normally $249.99)
From $179.95 from B&H, a saving of $70 (normally $249.95)
From $219.99 (Spring Yellow only) from Walmart, a saving of $30 (normally $249.99)
