Another lavish Turkish soap opera is making its way to Univision’s primetime lineup. The new series is the international hit La Hija del Embajador (The Ambassador’s daughter). And it’s getting a top spot at 10 p.m. weeknights, starting March 2, 2021.
The Turkish drama follows the love story of Nare (Neslihan Atagül), daughter of an ambassador, and Sancar (Engin Akyürek), the son of a farmer, who meet and fall in love as young children. Their romance spans more than a decade, but they only see each once a year during their summer holidays, since her father’s job as a diplomat has them traveling around the world. Without the approval or support of their families, the lovebirds decide to elope. But on their wedding night, Nare disappears without a trace.
Heartbroken, Sancar moves on, meets someone else and eventually gets married. But oh, surprise! Nare reappears the night of his wedding to a new bride. Why did Nare disappear? What will happen with Sancar’s new relationship? Is there any chance the once teenage love birds could reignite the flame and reunite? Well, that’s what they’ll have to figure out and what fans of Turkish soaps love to see.
La Hija del Embajador was produced by O3 Medya, the first Turkey-based production company tapped by Netflix
This is Univision’s second Turkish series in its weeknight primetime lineup. It previously aired Amor Eterno (Kara Sevda) at 9 p.m., a big hit for the Spanish-language network, delivering solid ratings and making Univision No 1 in its timeslot last year.
The one-hour finale of Amor Eterno delivered an average of 2.3 million Total Viewers 2+, 847,000 Adults 18-49 and 344,000 Adults 18-34, making it the most-watched program on broadcast television in the 9 p.m. hour among Adults 18-49 and Adults 18-34, according to Nielsen. In its full season two run, Amor Eterno averaged 1.9 million Total Viewers 2+, 753,000 Adults 18-49 and 317,000 Adults 18-34.
